Wind Burial - Snowdrift

Wind Burial recently remastered an album from a prior incarnation of the group, Snowdrift. To promote the release, they contacted me to see if I could film them performing a few of the songs live at The UNKNOWN recording studio in Anacortes, WA. The look of the space was unique. It had been a church at one time and also had a warehouse feel that the band liked for the background. Nich Wilbur engineered the live recording of the music and Whiting Tennis assisted me with the studio shoot.

In addition to filming within the studio, I captured footage of natural areas surrounding this beautiful Fidalgo Island town with the assistance of David Goodman. The music has a spacious, organic feel to it so I felt that blending in some of the beauty of the Pacific Northwest would work well for the vibe of the music from this Seattle, WA based band. At times I would layer and slightly abstract this footage as a light nod to the the layered video art I like to create for live music performances.

Their remastered album, “Starry All Over”, was released on Winter Solstice 2021. Check out it out on Bandcamp here.
